Shu-Chen Cheng

Hamilton, ON

Originally from Taiwan, Shu-Chen has been a full-time ceramic artist since 2003. Her award winning Raku vessels are timeless, and are recognized for their elegant form, brilliantly coloured surface, and decorative horsehair firing.  She has exhibited in numerous galleries and juried shows, including the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, the Gardiner Museum Shop in Toronto, and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery Shop in Waterloo.  Shu-Chen also teaches workshops, and has been featured in articles by the Hamilton Spectator and Dundas Star News.  Her work can be found in collections both in Canada and abroad including the permanent collection of the Burlington Art Centre (AGB),  the Burlington Potters Guild, and the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop.  In 2008, her Raku work was purchased by the Hamilton Airport and is on display at the International Arrival Hall.
