Ralph Heather

Visual Artist and Original Printmaker

I am a visual artist living in Paris, Ontario, focused on original printmaking using the traditional techniques of hand-cut wood blocks or etchings, which are hand-pulled by myself in my studio. I have a varied background in art from a lifetime in and around the visual arts. I am an accomplished professional graphic designer, Registered Graphic Designer, a graduate of Graphic Design at Sheridan College and I continue to study art at Centre3 and Dundas Valley School of Art. My award winning artwork is exhibited regularly in solo and group show throughout Southern Ontario and is in private collections throughout North America.

I find much of my inspiration not far from where I live. It can be moments away or discovered while exploring my rural and urban landscapes. Searching for the missing connections to our local heritage and environment, finding myself surrounded by the historic places of trees, fields, homesteads, and monuments. Shared experiences, times and places are documented and are reflected in each work I make. The interesting stories and situations are transformed into a woodcut print before they are forgotten by time and the unrelenting progress of today.
