Lecture – CRAFT in the NEW MILLENIUM
CRAFT in the NEW MILLENIUM
Does craftsmanship matter in these times of mass consumerism and digital technology? How is the idea of craftsmanship affected by such movements as Sloppy Craft, Slow Craft and Craftivism? Denis Longchamps, Artistic Director and Chief Curator of the Art Gallery of Burlington, will address these issues in an illustrated talk that touches on the importance of crafts, and the relevance of the diversity of contemporary craft movements.
Following the lecture, Longchamps will do a walk and talk through the “Carnegie Craft 2017” juried biennial exhibition to discuss techniques and concepts using the items on display.
Tuesday, April 18, 7-8:30pm
Tickets: Members $10, Non-members $12
