“ In my current work I am exploring ceramics through the vase, the many ways to form, decorate, and glaze, it feels as though I have barely scratched the surface.  With pieces in VASE the main explorations are coil throwing and slab building techniques, with cone 10 stoneware clay and glazes.  For coil thrown vessels I throw a base, allow it to become firm but not dry, add on a couple coils of clay, and then throw the new clay, and so on and so forth, allowing forms as tall as the kiln will allow, and slab building is like a 3D cut and paste.  I used several different decorating techniques on these vases including: newspaper transfer with slip trailing, sgraffito, painting on oxides, carving, and sand blasting.”
