Dan Pilling – Beyond the Lily
June 7-30, 2013
Opening reception Friday, June 7, 7-9:30 pm.
Dan has been working seriously with the image for 40 years through documentary, landscape, architecture, portraiture, and now his most recent interest the Lily. The challenge he set for himself was to liberate the spirit of the flower. In these recent works he is stretching the parametres of the literal representational photograph of the lilies so that the viewer is able to connect to his or her symbolic imaginary world using his photographs as a springboard.
Even though Pilling has had a life time of study and experience from Sheridan College, Guatemala, Maine photographic Workshops, through Mitsang, a Buddhist photography programme in Toronto, and teaching photography and film at Mohawk College, this will be his debut solo exhibition here at the Carnegie Gallery!
