ANNUAL EVENTS

Secret Garden Tour XIV

The Carnegie Gallery's fourteenth annual tour of artistic garden retreats in and around the Dundas area took place on Sunday June 24th, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Rosewood Consort performed again at the Carnegie Gallery. Click here to view an interactive slide show of the 8 gardens on the 2006 tour. Note that you will need to have Flash Player installed to view this movie.

The posters for this year's tour are still available for sale at the Carnegie Gallery. The artwork for this year's poster was based on an original watercolour entitled "Corn" by Patricia Peacock-Evans.

GENERAL BACKGROUND

Each year in June the Carnegie Gallery runs a garden tour showcasing some of the best in the area. Established in 1993, the Garden Tour is an eagerly awaited yearly event that features a diverse selection of gardens in the Dundas, Ancaster, Hamilton area. Gardens are chosen to provide inspiration and admiration and always include personally created gardens that are tended by dedicated (and sometimes obsessed!) owners. Many gardens are artist-owned and therefore include charming quirky touches - or even the artist's own work. Others may be small town gardens or larger rural country ones, but each brings to life the vision and efforts of the owners, whether it is of a horticultural nature or is an interesting use of arbours, pathways and decks. The tour is self-driven (using maps provided by the Gallery) through the beautiful local landscape and the charming small-town streets. A special feature of the Carnegie Gallery tour is the original, frameable artwork poster that is part of the ticket price, as well as the charming tea room and free refreshments at the Gallery, where you can fill out a ballot for door prizes and view the current art exhibition. The tour is the major fundraiser for this non-profit community gallery, and we thank all of our old and new supporters.
