TICKET DESCRIPTION: Monika designed the front garden’s striking path, steps, and plantings six years ago. Selected for colour, structure, and texture (rather than for flowers, which are too fleeting), the plantings are unusual. Their trees, yellow-leafed autumn lilac, white-barked Himalayan clump birch, green-needled white pine Contorta, cut leaf golden elder, to name only four, and their underplantings of hostas, heucheras, and ferns create a striking pallet of yellows, greens, and purples. Potted plants, which overwinter outdoors, add extra interest.  Be sure to visit the miniature train display at the back of the garden.
